Rolfing FAQs

  • How long is a session? Sessions are typically 60-75 minutes. The first session is usually 90 minutes to allow time for assessment and intake.

  • Is it like massage? Rolf® Structural Integration (SI) differs from massage in its holistic intention and the types of manual techniques utilized. A typical session consists of slow, alternately superficial and deep, fascial manipulations. The Rolf practitioner may ask for movement to help facilitate release in certain areas.

  • Does it hurt? Rolfing® can at times feel intense or relaxing depending on your own sensory system. I will work within your comfort level. You can stop a session at any time and you are always encouraged to give feedback as this is an important part of the practitioner-client relationship dynamic.

  • What should I wear? For women, it is recommended to wear either a two piece bathing suit or a sports bra that is preferably not racerback style with yoga shorts or underwear. For men boxer briefs or running/biking shorts are appropriate.

  • How many sessions will I need to see results? Rolfing® is a holistic manual therapy designed to be performed over a series of 10 sessions that methodically affect all areas of the body. Typically you can start to feel changes after the first session. Sessions can be as often as twice a week or once a month depending on your schedule and your budget. Once you have experienced a 10 series you can return for "tune-up" sessions as needed. Read more details about each session in a 10 series...

  • Do I have to do a 10 series? There is no obligation to sign up for 10 sessions. If you are not sure if Rolfing® is for you, try a session or two and see if it's what you are looking for to find improved wellness.

  • How much is a session? Each session is $125.

  • What types of payment do you accept? Cash, check and major credit cards are accepted. Other payment options include Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, HSA/FSA cards.

  • Will my insurance pay for it? I do not accept insurance at this time, however you may bill your private insurance for reimbursement as appropriate.
